In 2016, a major supermarket completed the acquisition to become one of the UK’s largest food and non-food retailers. Following an internal consultation, they decided to relocate 13 commercial finance roles to a different regional office. At the time supermarkets, London office was announcing staff reductions so this project needed to be treated with the highest degree of discretion.
Based in the Midlands, the North West and Yorkshire, SF Group, an Ignata company, was perfectly placed to work on this project. Our account management and the delivery team met with the relevant line managers to understand their exact requirements.
The Head of Non-Food and Property Finance was keen to recruit the very best commercial finance talent in the Midlands as quickly as possible and engaged us on an exclusive basis to recruit all 15 roles.
With time being of the essence we needed to see as many people as we could, and fast. We organised and ran a recruitment evening covering all the commercial finance roles (ranging from £20,000 - £55,000 p.a.).
The evening took place less than a fortnight after we received the mandate from the supermarket with 100% of invitees present.
Thanks to our strong networks in the area, candidate caliber was high in the evening and 17-second interviews took place over the next two days.
These interviews resulted in 10 offers being made and nine accepted. All in the space of a fortnight.
The remaining four roles were filled in the following weeks.
